the snare drum project
the snare drum project is an immersive instrument and a composition that fuses music, performance and sound art. At its core, the project revolves around an ensemble of twenty snare drums, transformed into a rich sonic landscape that redefines the traditional understanding of percussion. Prepared snare drums are spread throughout the performance space, serving as both a standalone installation and a twenty-channel sound system for live performance.
the snare drum project continues my exploration of percussion as a medium for personal expression, pushing the boundaries of traditional practice. It serves as a metaphor for my evolving relationship with the instrument—taking something familiar and traditional and giving it a new twist, much like my journey through music education. The work reflects on this intimate relationship while also exploring how sound, space, and technology can intersect to create a deeply immersive experience.
